About IDA

The "International Diving Association" - IDA was created in June 1996 from the idea to unite the professionalism of many American federations and the current developments of the diving sport with the high training standards of the diving sport world union CMAS.

IDA made it it's duty, by means of innovative teaching methods, worldwide diving teachers after the newest standards to out and train further. IDA diving teachers are considered as guarantors to safe and easy learning of the diving sport.

As initial member of the CMAS Germany IDA is an important partner within this union. We are constantly endeavor the interests of the diving sport also in other committees to represent and are therefore everywhere with represented, where the future of the diving sport is crucially affected.

Like that IDA is member of the international diving teacher academy e.V. Potsdam (I.T.L.A.). Besides IDA is also member in the promotion circle sport diving e.V. and in January 2003 the admission in the Recreational Scuba Diving training Council (RSTC) placed. The cooperation in the DIN committee for the production of an obligatory standard for the diving teacher and the diver training, gave IDA up after scarcely 2 years, since we are not due to the insight into the requirement lists the opinion that this standard will represent a quality criterion.

IDA holds several times in the year abroad the in and tl and Crossoverpruefungen and trains divers and diving teachers with innovative teaching methods after the newest standards. Altogether the federation ranks at present nearly 1000 members and belongs thereby clearly among the strongest federations of the diving sport. Abroad we are and others represented in: Malta, Croatia, Ibiza, Menorca, Costa Brava, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Southern France, Egypt, Thailand, Dominican Republic of, Bulgaria, Poland, Russia u.v.m..

Naturally IDA offers also an insurance to its divers . Particularly for divers there are those
Dive Card of Aquamed . A comprehensive insurance protection for all taucherischen interests.
The most important achievements:

- assumption of the pressure chamber costs also abroad
- diving accident insurance (disablement and death)
- high covering sums
- telephone Hotline


For diving schools there is a liability insurance as group insurance with world-wide area of application: Damages to property and person, environmental liability insurance, diving school owner, as well as up to two of further instructors are coinsured.
